Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will serve as co-hosts at the 2014 and 2015 Golden Globes, NBC announced Tuesday. The comedic personalities will follow up their 2013 turn hosting the show.
Fey and Poehler's Globes earlier this year was considered one of the stronger performances at the awards podium in recent memory. At 19.7 million overall viewers, the Globes ratings were the highest since 2007. The pair also had well-received comedic bits including memorable jokes about James Franco's ill-fated turn as Oscar host several years before and a dig at James Cameron.
"I haven't really been following the ['Zero Dark Thirty'] controversy," Poehler said early in the telecast. "[But] when it comes to torture, I trust the lady who spent three years married to James Cameron," referring to "ZDT" director Kathryn Bigelow, Cameron's ex. Poehler and Fey also has a scene-stealing presenting turn at the Emmys last month.

The Golden Globes--which are overseen by the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. and produced by Dick Clark Productions--were of course boosted by other personalities last year, including a surprise appearance by Bill Clinton and a not-quite-retirement speech by Jodie Foster.
The Globes went without a host for many years before bringing in Ricky Gervais in 2010 for what turned into a three-year stint. Gervais created headlines with an acerbic performance that delighted some and irked others. In 2012, Fey and Poehler, star at the time of a pair of NBC comedies were announced as the team that will take over the reins. (Fey's "30 Rock" has since gone off the air while Poehler remains an NBC presence with "Parks & Recreation.")

It's rare for a host to be signed on for two years off the bat; most producers prefer to wait to see how a show turns out before making the commitment.
In announcing the deal, NBC alternative and late-night president Paul Telegdy said that "Tina and Amy are two of the most talented comedic writer/performers in our business and they were a major reason the Golden Globes was the most entertaining awards show of last season," perhaps a reference to the mixed results of the Seth MacFarlane-hosted Oscars.
The Golden Globes will take place Jan. 12 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles and be broadcast at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
