Red Skelton had been one of the crown princes of comedy at MGM in the 1940s and early 1950s, starring in such films as 1942's "Whistling in Dixie" and 1949's "Neptune's Daughter." He made the successful transition to TV in 1951 with "The Red Skelton Show." For the next 20 years, Skelton kept audiences in stitches with his memorable comedic characters, such as Freddie the Freeloader and Clem Kadiddlehopper. This Tuesday, Timeless Media Group is releasing "The Red Skelton Show: The Early Years 1951-55," an 11-disc set featuring 90 remastered episodes that have not been seen since they aired six decades ago. Extras include a documentary on Skelton and a dress rehearsal of an episode.
