Linsdey Vonn has firmly established herself as the greatest women's skier in history. Now it's time to go after the men.
Winning the super-G at the World Cup Finals on Thursday, Vonn captured her 19th crystal globe to match the men's record set by Swedish legend Ingemar Stenmark.
It took an aggressive final run in Meribel, France, for the American to to slip past Anna Fenninger of Austria.
"I really like high-pressure situations," Vonn said. "Sometimes when it demands strong skiing I can bring it out and I like that."
This has been a comeback season for Vonn, who missed much of 2014 -- including the Winter Olympics in Sochi -- with multiple knee injuries. Earlier this year, she set a record with her 63rd win in World Cup competition.
"I'm definitely more proud of myself than I expected to be this season," she said. "I think I solidified to myself and everyone else that I'm back."
