A new website allows you to search all California parklands, from the big national parks to local dog parks.
The CaliParks website will help you plan your next adventure at 11,826 parks statewide and find what you're looking for in one place, according to an announcement last week.
It works in English and Spanish on smartphones and tablets as well as laptops and desktop computers.
You can search national, state, regional and urban parks to connect with a place to hike or surf. Enter the city or ZIP Code you're interested in or check out CaliParks' favorites on the home page.
And you can Facebook and tweet your friends via the website too.
Want to go off-roading in Northern California? It will suggest parks such as the Laguna Seca Recreation Area & Campgrounds in Monterey County and pull up photos taken from social media (so you can see what it looks like). It also pops up a map showing the location and a link to the park's website.
Want to find cool places to go rock climbing?
CaliParks lists the usual suspects -- Yosemite and Joshua Tree national parks -- but also displays lesser known destinations such as Mountain Home Demonstration State Forest in Springville that's been around since 1946 and Harmony Headlands State Park north of Cayucos.
"Park users have long shared their experiences using social media, and for the first time, these stories and images come together in a single app," says Jon Christensen, a UCLA professor and partner in Stamen Design, which built the application, in a statement.
