It seems more seafaring adventures are in store for the swashbuckling crew of the Walrus. The Emmy-winning pirate series "Black Sails" has gotten the green light for a third season, Starz announced Saturday at New York Comic Con.
The news arrives before the show's second-season premiere, slated for Jan. 24. The series follows fearsome pirate Captain Flint (Toby Stephens) and his crew 20 years before the events of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic "Treasure Island."
Luke Arnold portrays John Silver in the years before he becomes the "Treasure Island" baddie.

The series also stars Hannah New as Eleanor Guthrie, who runs the New Providence smuggling operation; Jessa Parker Kennedy as young prostitute Max; and Zach McGowan as Captain Charles Vane, a rival pirate to Flint. Season 2 sees Tadgh Murphy's debut as Ned Lowe, a pirate with a penchant for violence.
"Black Sails" is created by executive producers Jonathan Steinberg ("Jericho," "Human Target") and Robert Levine ("Touch"), and produced by Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form ("Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles").
"Flint's journey is riveting, and around him, Jon and Robert have woven an intricate web of conflict, betrayal, and redemption for the other characters that we believe will keep fans of the show coming back for more," Carmi Zlotnik, managing director of Starz, said in a statement, noting that the show has been well received internationally as well as in the U.S.
