Manchester United announced Tuesday that the travel roster for its July 23 friendly with the Galaxy at the Rose Bowl will include World Cup players Wayne Rooney, David De Gea, Shinji Kagawa and Juan Mata as well as new signings Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw.
Less certain is the participation of striker Javier Hernandez, whose World Cup duties with Mexico didn't end until June 29. Typically players are given a 30-day break between the World Cup and their club responsibilities.
After the Rose Bowl game, Manchester United's summer tour will continue in Denver, Washington D.C. and Ann Arbor, Mich.
The team will leave Manchester on July 18 for Los Angeles, where it will train for the first time under new Coach Louis van Gaal, who is directing the Netherlands in Brazil at the World Cup.
"These tours give the squad a great opportunity to not only prepare physically for the season ahead, but to bond as a group -- something that is even more significant with the new manager and players coming in," assistant coach Ryan Giggs, a former star player for United, said in a release. "United is fortunate to have a great fanbase of really passionate followers in the U.S. and we're looking forward to going back there.
"On a personal level, this tour will be the first time that I will be involved in matches as assistant manager and I just can't wait to get started."
