Neil deGrasse Tyson and a special "Bachelorette" walked hand in hand to a ratings victory on a quiet Sunday night, while NBC's canceled dramas rose.
Fox's science documentary series "Cosmos," hosted by Tyson, and the ABC reality dating spinoff tied as the night's highest-rated shows in the key 18- to 49-year-old demographic, according to early numbers from Nielsen.
The telecasts each earned a rating of 1.3 in the demo, in which a ratings point equals roughly 1.3 million viewers. Compared with its most recent telecast, "Cosmos" increased its rating 18% in 18-49 and the two-hour "Bachelorette" episode was down 19% from last Monday's airing.
NBC has already caneceled its dramas "Believe" and "Crisis." Still, the former rose 29% week-to-week for a 0.9, and the latter jumped 14% to a 0.8, likely helped by a 8 p.m. rerun of "America's Got Talent."
