A gunman opened fire Wednesday morning in a Georgia megachurch run by Creflo Dollar, killing at least one person, authorities said. The suspect was at large.
Fulton County police received a call at 9:55 a.m. to a shooting at World Changer Church in College Park, near Atlanta, where a suspect entered the chapel and began firing, police Cpl. Kay Lester told The Times.
Services are usually held at the church at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays, Lester said. But it was not clear how many people were there when the shooting started.
The identity of the man who was killed was not released. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died, Lester said. It was not clear whether he was affiliated with the church, said Lester said.
She said no one else was hospitalized in connection with the shooting. Investigators were still trying to determine the shooter's motive, she said, and they have not released a description of the suspect.
